Falling Film Type HCL Absorbers
FALLING FILM TYPE HCL ABSORBERS - CUBIC BLOCK DESIGN
Falling film absorber of cubic block design comprises of a number of Cubic blocks piled one upon other and bolted together. On the top end is a liquid distributor and the gas inlet header. At the bottom is the Gas liquid separator.
The Hydrogen chloride feed gas flows co-currently with the film of absorption media and flows down.
The heat of absorption is removed continuously by cooling water flowing on the service side, keeping the temperature low. This enables production of higher concentration of acid.
Unabsorbed gas leaving the falling film type absorber can be passed through a packed column type tail gas tower and absorbed in water to produce weak acid which flows by gravity to the falling film type absorber as the absorption media.
This when used in a re-circulatory system can handle variable rates of feed.
